Magickal Journal

Weather: rainy

Performed 4 breaths, LBRP and Middle Pillar. Then went to the Neophyte Meditation. In contemplating the point mathematically, one realizes that, according to geometric general rule, a point has no height, no depth, no width. In saying that, I wondered whether it had life. And my initial thought was no, but then …

… just because something doesn’t have physical, measurable dimensions doesn’t mean that it is lifeless. After all, spirits don’t have physical dimension unless they incarnate, but of course they have life eternal, because is never created or destroyed, only transformed. And then my thought was, “well, we can’t say whether or not it has life objectively.” After all, the human mind has to draw comparisons and contrasts to something else that it perceives before it can make a determination. This “scientific” comparison is utterly ridiculous as we have nothing to which to compare it. To think that all of the Universe can be contained in that one little speck of ink surrounded by white nothing is necessary because the human likes to grasp at ideas and notions that determine whether or not it matters to “something bigger.” But that’s all it is and nothing more – grasping at comparisons to determine whether the mind is the master or the mastered. And does it really matter which?

As for the rituals, I can honestly say that I felt infinitely “different” after. The LBRP is one thing, and I think I may grown accustomed to its feel by now. But when I did the Middle Pillar, not only did I feel high, but there was a distinct feeling of clarity in the euphoria. Quite amazing. I shall have to improve and concretize the visualizations of it more effectively, though.

Daily Tarot: six of swords; a woman in a boat with six swords on the water, being steered by a boatman who looks ahead. The meaning of this card is safe passage, and for me, I believe this indicates movement towards a new “land.” Off in the distance is another shore, and white it is hazy, it indicates that a worthy guide is able to see through the fog of illusion and navigate to safety, where newness (and for some, anonymity) makes for an amazing journey to a new way of being with the world around you. The water on the card appears in two states. On the near side of the boat, the water is choppy, indicating danger, while the waters on the far side of the boat are still and serene, indicating safety, smoothness and the movement to a place where there is no immediate threat. Spiritually speaking, its an indication for me that my current studies are allowing me “safe passage,” to a new M.O., meaning that, regardless of how I might “feel” about it, there is a new, peaceful, enjoyable way of life on the horizon for me.

The Case for Men-Only Esoteric Groups

The darkness and the light. The day and the night. The movement and the stillness. The hard and the soft. The open and the closed. The above and the below. What are these pairs of words? They are thoughts on polarity. And polarity, as we know, is inclusive of both men and women, the male godform and the female godform. But aren’t we a bit unbalanced as modern groups go?

Losing the S*pa*m

So, in case you haven’t noticed, there has been lots o’ sp*am coming through on my system lately. I’m not sure, but there has been an attack of sp*am*bo*ts on my weblog. So, I’ve taken the liberty of installing a comment filtering system. You’ll notice that, when you enter a comment, you are required to enter a word now. Please be sure you type the word correctly. Otherwise, you’ll have to re-enter your comment, and we all know how frustrating that can be.

I’ll be updating a little later on my latest projects and practices.

From ‘Be A Goddess’

I couldn’t help myself. In coming up with a new article (which I’ll probably post later, after it’s been fully revised and edited a couple of times), I ran across a poem in a book that I studied long ago. The book is called Be A Goddess, by Francesca DeGrandis. Here’s the poem (one of my faves):

I am the Goddess’s Beloved.
My lungs take in Her breath.
My veins run with Her red.
Blessed are the feet
that have walked my path
of trials and pleasure.
My hands are Her hands.
I am God as surely as
I created the universe at the beginning.
I need bow down before no one
nor before any deity.
My body is Her body,
glistening with the sweat of stars.
My tears and my sex are Her gifts;
I bestow these as I will.

Goddess within and without,
fill me with the light
that exposes evil;
fill me with the light
that evil flees from;
fill me with the light
that illuminates me in my hiding,
that I may come from my hiding
and bathe in the joy of the light.

Fabulous, isn’t it?

Well, this sort of sux …

I’m sure you’re probably wondering where in the hell all of my posts went, aren’t you?

Well, for some idiotic reason, I decided it was okay to go ahead and upgrade from WordPress 2.7 to WordPress 2.7.1, because of some kind of bug fixes that came out with the new version.

Unfortunately, when I “upgraded” the only thing that was visible in the browser was “Site down for maintenance.” So, I assumed there was some sort of screwup with the remote upgrading thing-a-muh-hoozits.

I had to delete everything on the site and complete a brand-spakin’-new re-install of WordPress 2.7 (without the .1). Freakin’ ay! So, I backed up the database (which should’ve gotten all of my posts and all the comments and such, as well), but for some reason, the SQL file had some sort of write-error in it that I couldn’t figure out. Meaning: SQL would not allow me to import the posts and comments from my blog because of a simple miss-typed character in the CSV (comma separated values) file.

So for those of you who are rather lax on technical jargon and don’t really give a shit, I apologize for this post.

But know this: I will do my best NOT to upgrade to another version of WordPress until I know that any issues might be fixed! And I’m going back through my saved material (stuff on my hard drive) and re-posting what I can find.

Bliss everyone!

PS: On the bright side (meaning: the cloud has a silver lining), I do have an opportunity to eliminate all of the extra “junk” that I don’t want on the site anymore and start all over!

Attempted Physical Plane Evocation of Phorlakh

Today, I took a nice long shower, cleansing myself psychically as well as physically. After, I lay on my recliner under a blanket and put myself into trance, hypnosis-style. I envisioned Phorlakh’s sigil on the big black curtain in my Magick Theatre, and then walked through the portal. I vibrated “Adonai ha-Aretz” (phonetic: ah-doh-nye hah-ah-rets) and then waited. Phorlakh showed up almost at once.

Phorlakh’s Correspondences

When you make a “spirit box” (as they are sometimes called) or a “spirit pot,” you have to find out what to put in the box/pot, and what color to make it, and so on. So for my purposes, I used Liber 777 to come up with correspondences for Phorlakh so that I could make a box in which he could place some of his essence.

According to Liber 777:

  • Phorlakh is an Angel of the Earth Element, and the key # is 32bis
  • Element: Earth (cold and dry)
  • General Tarot Attribution: Coins/Discs/Pentacles
  • King Scale/Color: Citrine, Russet, Olive and Black (Quartered, these are the colors of the earth pentacle used in Golden Style magickal evocation given in Summoning Spirits)
  • Queen Scale/Color: Amber
  • Emperor Scale/Color: Dark Brown
  • Empress Scale/Color: Black and Yellow
  • Animal: Bull (Cherub of Earth, also Taurus sign)
  • Plants: Oak and Ivy (apparently all cereals, as well)
  • Stone: Salt
  • Weapon: Pentacle, Bread, Salt
  • Perfumes: Storax, all dull and heavy odors
  • Sense: Touch (North)
  • Supreme Elemental King: Thahaaothahe (phonetic: thah-hah-ah-oh-thah-heh)
  • Archangel of the Quarter: Auriel (phonetic: oh-ree-el)
  • King of the Elemental Spirits: Ghob (phonetic: gobe)
  • Attribution of the Pentagram: left lower point

Using these correspondences, I made Phorlakh a box. The box itself is actually a black box in which I received a watch as a gift over the holidays. Inside, it is coated with black faux velvet. I placed the following inside the box:

  • a string of nine amber and nine jet beads
  • a sprig of ivy from the back yard
  • a vial of salt
  • a length of yellow and black embroidery thread braided together
  • Phorlakh’s sigil painted in yellow paint on a white piece of paper
  • a pentacle pendant from an old necklace (which I’d still be wearing otherwise, but I thought a bit of a sacrifice was necessary)
  • a piece of Jet that used to be in the shape of a crescent but has been broken for quite some time

I then visited Phorlakh and got his permission to place his name (in Hebrew) and in his sigil on the outside of the box. He told me to also put on the box, once on each side, the name of the elemental spirit “Agla.” I asked if it had to be in Hebrew, and he said, “No.” Then I asked if Enochian was appropriate. He said that if I preferred, I could use Theban or Latin or something else, but not Enochian. I agreed. After I put the appropriate names and sigils on the box in metallic gold paint (an earthy tone, having to do with money, which is of the element of earth), I tied around the box a nice silken ribbon dark brown in color.

I have since given several tea-lite candles to Phorlakh by lighting them in front of the box. In addition, I recently melted some yellow wax and used an empty tea-lite container to make a wax circle upon which I carved Phorlakh’s sigil.

When I attempted to evoke Phorlakh to the physical plane, I had both the box and the waxen sigil in the triangle in order for him to charge them.
